Sharps, flats and treats

Kim Bruguier, the new music teacher for preschool through the fifth grade in Mobridge, is so enthusiastic about her work that it was hard to pin her down for a brief story and some recipes."Out of 47 kids in the fifth grade, 39 have signed up for band, and that includes one from Zion!" she says, bubbling over with excitement. "The school has some instruments they can use and we are trying to find more for the kids who can't afford to buy one. If anyone has an instrument they don't use or need, even if it's not in good shape, some kid can probably use it to learn on until they need a better one." Already, 50 students have signed up for chorus, another plus for Kim who is already making plans for coming concerts.A native of Mitchell, Kim comes from a family of musicians. Her grandfather played tenor sax in the Mitchell Band for 65 years and Kim grew up watching him.
